What inspires me? I love The Impressionist style of painting and often base my work on that style. I get inspiration from nature, music and the colors we see everyday. It's the colors that give life to me and my work. I try to create art that can stir up positive feelings and make the the viewer a participant in the piece. For example, in my "Dolphin Sunset", the painting is filled with the warm oranges and yellows of the setting sun as the rays create a tranquil glow across the waves of the ocean. One can almost hear the splashing of water as the dolphins playfully jump into the air to take a glimpse at the last bit of daylight, and feel the remnants of warm sunlight on their skin. Being able to transfer that feeling of tranquility to the viewer, and making he or she feel as though they are part of that image means I have accomplished my goal.

Paintings are living extensions of the artist that you can take home in spirit when viewing a work in a gallery; or that you can admire from your own living space whenever you want to satisfy a need for the "feeling" that art conveys. I view art similarly to that of the still life artist, Giorgio Morandi. He said, "A sincere artist is not one who makes a faithful attempt to put on to canvas what is in front of him, but one who tries to create something which is, in itself, a living thing."
